Mr. Unite Us

Professor Melvin Oliver is a Professor of Sociology at UC Santa Barbara. His book “Black Wealth, White Wealth- a New Perspective on Racial Inequality” introduced groundbreaking research that showed how big a wealth gap there really is between African Americans and White Americans – how that gap came about, and how it can be bridged.

Here's an audio interview with him- he talks about some scaaaary realities in Black America, and I couldnt help but draw a parallel with Sudanese society- except in our case it would be Southern wealth- Northern wealth.

Professor Oliver was also Vice President for Asset Building and Community Development at the Ford Foundation, and Director of UCLA’s Center for the Study of Urban Poverty while he taught there.
