I am searching for someone who would like to make a few extra dollars on Saturdays.

Putting up cabinets/shelves

Use of power tools

Hammering

Drilling

Sawing

Yard work

I can show you how to and what I need around the house.  No exp. necessary.

You must be respectful and trustworthy.  Be ready to work.  This is for a non b.s. person who is ready to do something with their time.

I am putting this out there for a Black male before I go to Home Depot.

I would like to suggest that you just walk up to a young Black male and offer him the job. If your alternative is to go to Home Depot and pick up a stranger from latin america, then you might as well trust trust and give a young Brother the opportunity.

I would have given you some credit before that response.

The difference with walking up to anyone or going to Home Depot is that the person at HD is looking for work.

As many of us know, a Black male would never hang out at HD or anywhere for a job which is unfortunate.  This is something society is looking at "Hispanics want to work and will do anything to provide for their families.  Their pride is not greater than them."  Young adults today dont want to work at McDonald's so yes it is hard to find one who wants to come and pull weeds or learn to build.  While I have been fortunate to have some great young Black men come and help me out around the house, there comes a time when they are burnt out (and that's sad too).  But I will give them their breaks and share the wealth with others.

To walk up to a stranger who is not looking for work is not a good way to go and find someone to do odd jobs around the house.  Coming to this message board is altho I may not find it here and that's unbelievable.

While many brothas sit around on Saturdays and Sunday, drinking and looking at football, there are many sistahs/people like me that could use a hand.  I am still young and able, but sometimes I just think what if I was 50+ looking for these same services.  What has happened to us?  What have we allowed our children to become and us as adults/men/women?  If I know someone who needs help especially a woman, I am there.  I guess I should not have to wonder about these problems when I re-read your response.  I know what's wrong with us.

We have a longgggggggggggggggg way to go.

Peace

Stereotyping young Black men is wrong. That goes for sterotying hispanics. And as far as "we have a long to go" - it is true. The destruction of our native tongue (language), culture, name, etc. is something that will cause havoc for us for many, many decades to go.

The problem is that we refuse to reject this new language, culture, name, etc.

PS: And by the way homegirl, if you cannot find a young Black men to help you with some chores, it maybe that your attitude prevents you from hooking up with one.
